TOMBALL — Tomball ISD has announced it will partner with Axiom Medical, a leading occupational health services and incident case management provider, to help support district staff during the COVID-19 crisis.

Many safety protocols and guidelines have already been put in place to help ensure the health and safety of Tomball ISD employees at all of its facilities for the 2020-2021 school year but partnering with Axiom Medical will add an extra layer of support during these uncertain times.

“Tomball ISD is excited about our new relationship with Axiom Medical,” says Superintendent of Schools Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora. “We believe this will be the first incidence in the State of Texas, and possibly the nation, where an educational entity will work with an occupational health services company to address a pandemic.”

Tomball ISD will utilize Axiom’s cutting edge CheckIn2Work app, a first of its kind technology providing workplace point-of-entry protection and case management through an experienced staff of medical professionals. The app delivers a quick and easy self-service health attestation for organizations like Tomball ISD needing to prescreen district staff members for potentially infectious or contagious conditions before allowing access to the workplace.

As an additional step to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Axiom Medical will help case manage affected district staff members and enhance communications with those impacted individuals and their families by providing:

  • Health support, including medical monitoring of ill or exposed district staff members
  • 24/7 telephone access to licensed medical professionals
  • Facilitation of return to work clearances once district staff members have recovered
  • Ongoing education and best practices to reduce the spread of illness in the workplace

“Axiom gave us case management options, outlining how we would work through the best school-based solution if and when one of our staff members tests positive,” Salazar-Zamora continues. “It inspires confidence to know that we have fully HIPAA-compliant experts in the field that can help us navigate from onset to leaving the workplace to returning to work.”

Tomball ISD was originally made aware of Axiom through its newly-formed partnership with BJ Services for the Academy of Energy and International Business, opening this fall.

“The process began when I contacted BJ Services, in anticipation of the Academy’s launch, to explore health screening protocols for our students who will be on-site. That is when BJ Services informed me of its established partnership with Axiom Medical,” says Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools Dr. Rick Fernandez.

“We have been a long-term provider of occupational health services to BJ Services, one of the most innovative companies in the oil and gas sector,” says Axiom Medical CEO and President Mark Robinson. “Their forward-thinking executive team has a clear vision of what they want to do to manage work-place health, and Axiom has been able to provide solutions that fit the company’s diverse needs.”

The partnership between Tomball ISD and Axiom Medical will be a model for educational entities and will begin rolling out for staff members this fall once the 2020-2021 school year begins.

“Working with Tomball ISD expands our reach into the educational sector, which is critical to the future of this country,” Robinson continues. “This is also our first time to partner with a nonprofit organization, which will serve as a future model for us. For Axiom, it was an easy call to allocate development resources and commercial bandwidth to make this relationship work.”

“As an educational district, we strive for innovative practices and unique experiences. This alliance shows that Axiom is committed to the greater good in our community,” Salazar-Zamora said. “I have peace of mind knowing we are working with these experts to ensure the health and safety of students and employees.”

"We have an incredible safety record; no OSHA recordables for the 6 years I’ve been here and I attribute that to Axiom’s involvement.

The nurses are so wonderful and so attuned to the Employees and help them return to work safely after an injury. They listen very well and the education is the most important. Our employees and managers love them.

Thank you for all that you do."
