“We have an incredible safety record; no OSHA recordables for the 6 years I’ve been here and I attribute that to Axiom’s involvement.
The nurses are so wonderful and so attuned to the Employees and help them return to work safely after an injury. They listen very well and the education is the most important. Our employees and managers love them.
It’s a basic fact: where you have employees (sooner or later) you’ll have workplace injuries on your hands.
In the U.S. it’s actually every7 seconds to be exact. But what’s important is having a plan to effectively manage them.
Wondering what such a plan should include?
Axiom recommends an easy 3 step process for an effective incident case management plan.
Step 1 – Report Injury
The single most important factor with managing injuries always starts with immediate reporting. In fact, did you know that a delay of reporting by even one day can increase your chance of having a recordable outcome by 60%?
If there is a true emergency (the severity of injury threatens loss of life, limb or eye sight), the initial notification should always be to 911.
Otherwise, we direct clients to contact Axiom 24/7 by calling (877) 502-9466.
Step 2 – Injury Assessment
Before you can begin to consider treatment, you first have to evaluate the injury.
For Axiom clients, that starts with a detailed assessment by an OSHA trained Registered Nurse. Within the telephonic assessment, they are able to obtain key details relating to the injury and current health status.
Why is the employee’s health status import?
Because details such as pre-existing conditions or current medications may impact the ultimate course of treatment and their recovery.
Step 3 – Treatment Plan
Upon completion of a detailed assessment, an appropriate treatment plan can be established.
Many times, injuries can be managed with first aid measures. Such measures may include basic instructions with use of over the counter medications and close monitoring throughout their recovery.
Should an injury require formal medical attention, it’s vital the employee is treated by an appropriate medical provider who understands occupational health and will be focused on restoring health.
