DISABILITY ABSENCE MANAGEMENT

When your employees are out of work for three or more days due to a personal illness or injury, Axiom Medical’s Disability Absence Management services offer appropriate care to ensure a safe and quick return to work. Our nurses act as a guide for the injured employee throughout the entire recovery journey while also keeping the employer updated on his/her return status. In addition to evaluating an employee’s current disability status and establishing appropriate treatment plans, Axiom Medical also manages all the necessary documentation, such as FMLA forms.

What is Disability Absence Management?

Disability Absence Management is a specialization in the employee occupational healthcare services industry that assists disabled individuals with their healthcare needs while helping with a quick return to work. This Employee Absence Management service also addresses the physical health and rehabilitation needs of the injured or ill employees.

This program’s primary focus areas facilitate communication between employers, employees, and medical providers, advocating on behalf of disabled workers, assessing, reviewing their medical and rehabilitation needs, and helping with a quick return to work.

What is Disability Absence Management?

Disability case managers are individuals responsible for managing disability cases reported in a work environment. They work closely with the employee, employer and medical provider, championing successful recovery, with physical, mental, emotional, or vocational restoration before returning to work. One of the essential roles of a disability case manager is to help disabled individuals get all the healthcare services they need.

What is Disability Absence Management?

Axiom Medical offers disability absence management as a part of our Employee Absence Management (EAM) services.

We provide:

  • Quality disability services.
  • Each case monitored through our experts.
  • Frequent status updates.
  • Facilitates communication between the employee, employer and healthcare providers.
  • An actionable plan for a quick return to work.
  • Coordinates appropriate return to work exams/testing.
  • Personal, short- and long-term disability absence management

Our Disability Absence Management program includes all the following services.

Return to Work – Our team of registered nurses will determine when your employees are safe to return to work with a Fit for Duty Exam (FFD). The FFD enables them to return to the job safely while maximizing productivity.

Medication Reviews – Appropriate medication management is instrumental in an employee’s safety and productivity when they return to their job. Axiom’s registered nurses will gauge your employees’ safety by reviewing a medication’s effectiveness, dosage, and potential side effects that could impact their ability to perform their working duties safely. HIPAA compliant medication reviews cut down on medical claim costs, lowers your short-term disability costs, and provides a quick and safe return to work.

Functional Capacity Evaluations – Do your employees have what it physically takes to do their job? Axiom Medical offers Functional Capacity Exams (FEC), which can be used during the pre-hire process to correctly determine if the employee hired can do the work activities of their job. Choose between a modified (most common) FCE or a full FCE.  The Functional Capacity Exam is more comprehensive than the DOT or non-DOT physical and assesses every employee’s job function based on specific testing tailored for that role.

Personal/Short-term Disability

Our Personal and Short-term Disability program offers a complete array of quality, integrated disability case management services for employees. Our team of qualified nurses and case managers will guide you from the time of a case reporting to documentation and return to work.

Long-term Disability

Axiom Medical’s long-term disability program specializes in providing case management and employee absence management for long-term disability cases. Our multi-layer approach involves OSHA-trained nurse practitioners who deal with case management and leave management from start to finish.

They Said It!

I believe with confidence that we are reaching all of our expected goals by bringing Axiom on as an outsourced case management solution.

Axiom has helped us closely monitor the injured employee’s progress through the medical treatment process. Early treatment has kept our employees at work when in the past they would have likely taken time off or been placed off by a physician.

I recommend Axiom because their Nurse Case Management Team is their biggest asset. They are accessible, give great reports and are responsive to our needs.
