This position is primarily responsible for performing telephonic medical case management for work-related injuries and illnesses. This includes, but is not limited to: providing first aid recommendations to injured employees, keeping detailed records on employee injuries and communications, recording all necessary information in Axiom’s database, interacting with medical facilities throughout the recovery process when medical treatment is indicated, and properly communicating any pertinent/necessary information with Axiom’s clients.

SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Currently, we are hiring nurses for the following work schedules:

8-hour shifts Monday – Friday (7am - 4pm)
8-hour shifts Monday – Friday (8am - 5pm)
8-hour shifts Monday – Friday (9am - 6pm)
10-hour shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Monday, with a 6-hour shift on Sunday
12-hour shifts on Friday - Sunday (7am - 7pm)
12-hour shifts on Friday - Sunday (8am - 8pm)

REQUIRED TRAVELAxiom Medical's corporate office is located in The Woodlands, Texas. This role would require one week of training at that location. (All expenses paid for and arranged by Axiom Medical.)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Receive telephonic calls to document and triage work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses and to the appropriate level of care.
  • Perform telephonic medical case management for work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses according to Axiom’s Standards Guidelines, applicable Nursing Directives and the Workers’ Compensation Operations and Procedure Manual.
  • Transfer cases to the Outcome Management Team according to Axiom procedures and as appropriate.
  • Follow client requests for customized service, as described in the client’s Nursing Directives.
  • Uphold Axiom’s dedication to maintaining excellent client service and relationships by providing the highest quality of service, care, and expertise.
  • Stay current with regard to OSHA Guidelines and Case Management Procedures.
  • Follow state specific Worker’s Compensation Guidelines.
  • Educate injured workers, safety representatives, and supervisors on Axiom’s style of case management, as needed.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and in-services.
  • Maintain RN license in state of primary residence. Must obtain and maintain additional RN licenses, as requested.
  • Work rotating shifts that include after-hours coverage (evenings, weekends, and holidays).
  • Be available for other duties and responsibilities, not mentioned above, that provide support to Axiom and our clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years’ experience as a licensed RN and/or BSN in good standing required
  • Experience with ER/acute injury/triage management required
  • Nurse case management or telephonic case management experience a plus
  • Specialty certification(s) that benefits Axiom (e.g. CCM, COHN, CEN, TNCC, LNCC, etc.) a plus

LANGUAGE SKILLS: 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY: 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess a general knowledge and capability of computer skills with focus on Microsoft Suite.
